The main design "feature" of the new website must be that it's easy to navigate. This the main feature of the current website that everyone loves. Visitors can clearly see the menu and it's obvious that it's a menu. This is especially true for seniors who may not have the vision a 25 year old has.
The website will have the following sections:
- news & events
- membership info
The home page needs to have a listing of activities (for direct access) and the briefs from the most recent news/event items. The listing of activities should be on every page. There should also be room for some basic club information.
The activities page will have a listing of the activities with short, 1-2 sentence descriptions. The activities will have a variety of information within them, so the design needs to be flexible to allow for different page layouts.
The design of the website should be consistent through all the pages to make it simple for visitors to navigate.
The reason for the redesign is not so much because the existing site has problems, but it's existed for over 5 years and is becoming harder to maintain. Instead of using the existing design for a new website, we thought it best to come up with a new, although similar design for a new website and start from scratch. This will allow us to clean up the backend and leave room for new features to be added over time.
