Feel free to exercise your creativity. I want to see what ideas other people might have rather than just imposing my own ideas. In principle, I’m open to just about anything. For example, the business card could use a horizontal or a vertical design and could be simple or complex. It could have something on the front and nothing on the back, or it could have something on both sides. It could incorporate something statistical, but it need not do so.
For those interested in incorporating something statistical into the design, I’ve assembled a pdf with images of different types of statistical graphics. Some of the pages also include statistical formulas and the like, and these could also be incorporated into the design. Unfortunately, the 99designs website was unable to upload the document. If you email me at firstname.lastname@example.org though, I can easily send it to you.
Additional graphical images can be found at:
Some of the graphs on these sites might be too complicated to incorporate into a business card design. The attachment I can send has both simple graphs and complex ones.
Of course, none of the images could be used exactly as is due to copyright restrictions. Similar types of images could be constructed through, either by hand or using statistical software and different data, and these then could be used in the final design.
Some of the graphics might be difficult to draw. So feel free to create less polished initial drafts. These can serve as a sort of proof of concept. If a design seems promising, then one could put additional effort into creating a more polished image.
Hope this provides sufficient direction. Will very much look forward to seeing that you come up with.
