We would like the logo to be instantly recognizable, with large, and easily legible font style. Preferably with more of a horizontal/wide layout tendency (not vertical/tall).
A gritty/earthy/organic style is desired. Keywords to influence design - local, homegrown, organic, farmer's market.
Taking the two words, "Homestead" and "Index" into account, possibly integrating some graphical elements that would make sense.
We will give feedback and/or suggestions on every submission!
---- UPDATES ----
[Update #1 - April 24] - Please see attachment for other influential images.
[Update #2 - April 24] - A lot of submissions that are being rejected seem to be using freely available/royalty free stock graphical image elements, like simple homes and magnifying glass graphics that can be found with a search for "Real Estate Icons" on the web. We're looking for much more creativity! Also, for the textual elements, we're looking for them to flow organically with the graphical elements of the logo. This may include some arching and connection between the letters that a typical font (unedited) wouldn't do on its own. To understand what is meant, see the example attachment image. See how the "Organic Farm" image connects and flows together? How the "g" in "organic" turns into the "F" in "Farm".
[Update #3 - April 24] - Thoughts on Fonts - Most submissions are using simple helvetica/arial-like squared and symmetrical fonts. We're looking for more earthy/organic/flowing style in the fonts.
[Update #4 - April 24] - Most submissions are focusing on an icon with small text/font. We are looking for MORE focus and prominence on the text/font and styling, with suitable graphic elements to compliment.
[Update #5 - April 24] - Our directory will feature MANY local businesses that vary widely from small family farms, to breweries, accounting services, to equipment rental services, and a WHOLE LOT MORE. While we like the focus on "nature" and "organic", we don't want people to see the logo and feel like the directory is only limited to farms and food related items. If possible try to reflect that perspective!
