The logo will appear on the bottom right side of billboards per attached photo. Here is the story behind the campaign: Public parks are our space. That’s why we don’t allow commercial advertising there. But a freeway or public street is also our space. Why do billboards point their noisy messages at us there–directly into our visual space? A little glitch in the system, don’t you think? You see, it takes mental energy to filter out the noise of commercial advertising. It can be exhausting too. You spend enough energy resisting ads in non-public visual spaces, like magazines, Websites and TV. So what if we take back our visual space, replacing commercial noise with uplifting non-religious, non-political messages that benefit society and make us smile, such as “Seriously, do you know you’re amazing?”? Scientific studies prove that positive statements posted on your bathroom mirror lower anxiety and increase happiness and productivity. Research even shows positive messages on posters at work have similar results on large groups of employees. So is it possible outdoor billboards can act as giant post-it notes, radiating positive messages to entire cities? Would that change the rate of depression, anxiety, crime and productivity? Seems logical, so let’s do an experiment and find out! We need your help because, if we prove this, things will change everywhere–fast. Random acts of kindness and fun will increase nationwide, as a domino effect of city after city responds to the scientific proof of our experiment. The media will catch on quickly and spread the word, as positive billboard messages pop up like spring flowers everywhere, allowing us all to let our shoulders down a bit and breathe. Through public surveys and civic statistics, such as violent crime incidents, we will measure the positive impact on each city with inarguable data. Can positive change be this simple? We’re non-profit, and we need you, the crowd, to help us all find out. Other than a very small percentage charged by the phone company and processor, 100% of your money will be used to pay for the positive billboards. That’s because other donors volunteered to pay for our overhead costs. So even if you can’t afford to help, chip in symbolically by giving $1 a month to make this beautiful silver lining a reality. We’ll update you at www.OurSpace.org, as each new billboard message goes up. Our first experiment is to take back our visual space in Los Angeles and measure the impact on crime, happiness and other hard statistics.
