I am a Movement Therapist and work with diverse populations to enhance their mental and emotional well-being using movement as a therapeutic medium. The logo is for my trademarked training program called MFH (Movement For Healthcare)
The Movement For Healthcare training program is an introduction to the basic principles, techniques and methods of using movement concepts with therapeutic value effectively for diverse populations.
The main objective of the MFH course is to understand theoretical principles through movement experiences. The course is geared towards care givers, physiotherapists, personal trainers, coaches, yoga teachers, psychotherapists and practitioners who wish to use therapeutic movement concepts for their clients. They will get certified as MFH practitioners after this credited course is complted.
We are not training them to become therapists but the main objective is to train them to use movement for therapeutic purposes thus enhancing the well-being of patient populations.
Therefore our program is termed MFH (Movement For Healthcare) instead of (Movement Therapy For Healthcare).
• Movement Therapists are trained to use psychotherapeutic interventions and techniques.
• Individuals certified under Movement For Healthcare program are trained to use movement as a healing force for enhancing physical, mental, emotional, social and cognitive well-being.
Movement therapy works from the premise that the mind and the body are inseparable, such that a change in one effects a change in the other. Movement therapy is a kind of psychotherapy based on the concept of using the body as a healing force for emotional distress.
The movement therapist intentionally taps into the healing nature of movement and uses it as an observation/assessment tool and then as a means of choreographing responses to issues and movements members bring to a group. The movement therapist responds, echoing and answering each person's movement, thus promoting feelings of self-worth. By utilizing the physical elements of breathing, posture, gesture, tension, release, space, force/weight and time, patients gain numerous benefits.
The training program is geared towards people interested in using movement concepts for healthcare.
I have worked with patients with chronic illnesses from patients with cancer, heart ailments, parkinsons and psychological illnesses. I also work with prisoners, sports professionals, street children and corporate executives. Each population I work with has specific goals to attain via movement therapy sessions.
We assist individuals navigate their bodies to empower their emotional space.
