Island Camp is a small (18 permanent tent/chalets), exclusive and remote tented camp, situated on Ol Kokwe Island in the middle of Lake Baringo, one of only two freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley, Kenya. The "tents", which are permanent structures with all running water, a bathroom, electricity, etc., are perched on rocky outcrops or under trees most with view over the lake. In addition to the many hippos and crocodiles who inhabit the lake, Island Camp is famous for the magnificent variety of bird life it offers. It offers a perfect opportunity to escape the humdrum of city life or a change of pace in-between visiting the many national parks. A chance to relax, recuperate and enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of this idyllic island.
Island Camp recently changed ownership and the new owners are currently refurbishing everything from the tents themselves, to the website (see http://www.islandcamp.co.ke for current site - including the existing logo), to the logo, to.... everything in fact. Everything that is, except the rustic appeal and charm which we hope to preserve.
Our target market is essentially European tourists who will be taking a few days off the traditional beaten path of game parks and safaris to relax and chill in a totally natural, idyllic, private and secluded environment.
