REVISED BRIEF Please see the revised sample pictures. We are looking for a design that isn't as literal or complex. - Design can be complex but must be able to be reduced to 2 or 3 elements and reproduced on very large collateral, and very very small collateral - We are from Sydney and that's what makes us unique, but the opera house and the harbour bridge are just a bit too literal unless a bit abstract or stylised. - As a group, we want to be open and welcoming. We believe in sharing knowledge and using homebrew as a vehicle for lots of other great things. We are a community. Background: The Inner Sydney Brewers Club is a homebrew club that has been in existence since 2006 and has approximately 200 members. The purpose of the club is to provide a friendly environment for like-minded brewers to share knowledge and passion for the craft of brewing and to help each other to brew great quality beer. The club currently has a logo (attached) that the members feel does not adequately represent the club and the club members have asked the club executive to come up with a new logo design that can be used when branding the club at events, on the web, in the media and on merchandise such as t-shirts and hats. Club values: - Love of the craft of brewing great beer - Respect for the fundamental ingredients of beer: malt, hops, yeast, water - Camaraderie and friendship - Learning and advancement of the art of brewing - Fun Desired visual objectives: - The logo of the club should be recognisable and have some unique features linking it to the identity of the club - If the logo is multicoloured then it should also have a 1 colour version that also looks good Style cues: The ethos of the club is respect for the fundamentals of brewing - being malt, hops, yeast, water and the craft of brewing which goes back thousands of years - however, the members of the club are creative, fun, friendly and inclusive. The logo of the club should draw upon the history and core ingredients of brewing and (possibly) the iconic city of Sydney that is the home of the club while retaining a modern look that is not boring or plain. Irreverence or sense of fun would be a good element to work into the logo but visual gimmicks that would quickly date should be avoided. A simple logo with a central graphic mascot which could be used independently of the overall logo would be preferred over something complex (e.g. the present logo). Sample images: Note that the sample images provided are not meant to be directive regarding style but more to provide ideas of imagery which is common to brewing clubs. Incorporating the name (or initials) of the club: Note that the name of the club (Inner Sydney Brewers) does not necessarily need to be a central part of the logo - i.e. the logo mascot should be able to stand on its own without the club name however the club name (or initials) would be expected to be presented as part of the finished logo.
