We would like to avoid anything truly military in the logo (ie no guns, canons, etc) with perhaps the singular exception of a Canadian WWI helmet (you'll have to look that up to see what it looks like!). A silhouette of a soldier might also work well.
Almost certainly, we will favour designs which somehow incorporate a red Canada maple leaf, and we would prefer the maple leaf not in bright red but in a slightly deeper ('blood') red, or respectful and classy red, if you will. Perhaps barbed wire might be an element to try using, say a maple leaf caught in barbed wire, or barbed wire as an accent around the edges. Another colour that would work well would be khaki, or what the military calls 'olive drab'.
We would like to somehow get both our name and our tag line in the logo, although we recognize that both are very long and perhaps we can't fit both in, in which case leave the tag line out if necessary.
We would like to keep the overall shape tight so that it could be placed on the front of a ball cap, on the breast of a staff golf shirt, and so forth. It would also be better to keep it simple rather than complex as we might also wish to use the design for a lapel pin if possible.
We are a Registered Charity in Canada and appreciate all the designers that will help us with this creation. You can see a bit more about us at http://www.georginamilitarymuseum.ca/ .
